‍Enter week 1 of my journey using the Nutrisense program and Continuous Glucose Monitor. I am thrilled to share my first week’s experience with you! Using theAs you know by now, my name is Logan, and I am the Content Manager here at Nutrisense. Last week I shared with you my history and why I am beginning this journey with Nutrisense to better my life and health. On August 16th, I received my Continuous Glucose Monitor [CGM] in the mail and began my journey to my optimal health goals.

How Does the CGM Work?

To begin, the CGM was so easy to apply and use. It lasts 14 days and allows you to monitor your glucose levels 24/7 without ANY blood being drawn. You simply open the kit, follow the directions for preparing the spot you will apply it, and then peel and place it. It is like having a light weight Band-Aid on your arm. The process was simple and pain free. I haven't noticed it on my arm since the application. In short, the CGM is constantly reading my glucose levels. Using the Nutrisense app I have been registering [in real time] how food, sleep, exercise, and stress impact my glucose levels. I have been logging every meal and activity into the Nutrisense app since I applied the patch.

Nutrition

The Nutrisense CGM program comes with helpful advice from a Registered Dietitian, and I have been having a wonderful time working with Carlee. She has been helping me understand how to personalize my diet as I begin my journey and has also been providing me with help to understand my daily data results and how to understand what my glucose levels mean to me. On my first day, Carlee reached out to introduce herself and help me learn about what goals I should reaching for. We went into detail about my diet, workout plan, and how to look at my levels each day. We noticed two things initially. She did notice that my blood sugar is a little low [but nothing to be alarmed about].

I decided that I wanted to use MeaLime to balance my diet and begin this journey. I specify what I like to eat in the app and then it creates recipes and builds a grocery list for me so that cooking is easy and grocery shopping is efficient. Even as someone that loves to cook, I have found that this has made building a new diet easier to manage. I had a small scare when I found out that that coffee causes a massive spike in my glucose levels. Luckily, Carlee and I have agreed that this is something that can be worked on and around as we refine my diet over time.

As the weeks progress we [Carlee and I] will be monitoring how my meal plans are affecting my glucose levels and adjust meals that my body doesn’t react well to and learn to interpret my body’s data. I am currently sticking to an under 2,000 calorie diet per day.

Exercise

As I mentioned last week, I have been eager to incorporate an exercise regime into my life, but have always been put off by going to gyms. I do know that this is important to creating a healthy lifestyle and reaching my ideal weight so after extensive research I decided to buy a Peloton bike and follow their program 4 days a week. So far, this has been the perfect solution to my gym-phobia. Their classes are easy to follow along with and enjoyable, especially in the privacy of my own home.

Results Already!?

I’m shocked, but I am already seeing some changes this week. My energy has already improved and I have found that this routine is beginning to change how in tune with my body and habits I am. While exercising, I still tire easily but have found that my motivation is higher. The best part [that I was NOT expecting] is that I have already lost some weight and my pants are already beginning to fit better. [To recap, I began at 248lbs and weighed in at 244.2lbs this morning].

Already this first week has been exciting, educational, and uplifting for me. I have loved working with Carlee who has made all of the data that I have been receiving make sense and be beneficial. I actually feel like I am creating changes that are making a profound difference and crafting a lifestyle that is manageable instead of intimidating. My goals for this next week are to settle into this routine and continue to improve my self confidence and energy while losing weight.
