How The Nutrisense Program Works

What is Included in my Monthly Nutrisense Subscription?

All of our monthly CGM subscriptions include:

  1. Continuous Glucose Monitors: Monthly delivery of 2 CGMs that will help you understand how your body reacts to food, sleep, stress, and other factors.
  2. Nutritionist Support: Our nutritionists work with you one-on-one to guide you on your health journey through video calls (based on eligibility) and in app chat.
  3. Nutrisense App Access: The Nutrisense app is a powerful tool that lets you track your daily activity to see how food, sleep, exercise, and stress impact your glucose levels.
  4. Access to our Private Community: Our Facebook group will allow you to learn and connect with like-minded members.

You can start using the app while your order is on its way. If you do not receive a welcome email in your inbox, please check your junk or spam folder. During this time, we encourage you to familiarize yourself with the app by logging meals, activities (i.e. exercise), and notes.

How Often Do You Need to Scan Nutrisense?

The Freestyle Libre CGM provided by the Nutrisense program will need to be scanned at least once every 8 hours to avoid losing any data. You can scan your CGM using the Nutrisense app to collect and view your glucose data in real-time.

How Long Do You Wear Nutrisense?

Nutrisense CGMs provided by FreeStyle Libre can be worn for up to 14 days. Once the device expires, you will receive a notification in the Nutrisense app to remove and dispose of your CGM.

How Does Sign Up Work?

Sign-up takes less than 5 minutes and includes a comprehensive health questionnaire. After you complete your questionnaire, it takes 1-2 business days for our third-party physician’s network to review your information and approve your eligibility for the Nutrisense program.Once approved, your order will ship out the next business day. Shipping takes approximately 5-10 business days.

How Do I Get Started with my CGM?

The 14-days of monitoring start once you apply and activate your sensor. You can start scanning one hour after activating your sensor. Each sensor lasts 14 days, and your data monitoring starts at the time you apply and activate the new sensor. You'll never lose any of the tracking time you paid for because each sensor's 14-day life doesn’t start until you choose to activate it. The Nutrisense app also tracks how many days of life your sensor has and will notify you when it expires. Your CGM subscription is tied to the shipment of the CGMs, not the use of them. This gives you the flexibility to customize your tracking time to match your schedule.Once your first sensor is activated, you will have access to a nutritionist in the app who will serve as a great resource to answer dietary and lifestyle questions. You will be matched with your nutritionist within 24 hours of activation on weekdays, or on Monday if you activate over the weekend. Your nutritionist will reach out to you through our in-app chat that you can access via "Message" in the in-app menu.Check out the Nutrisense Journal for bonus content to help you on your health journey!

Does Nutrisense Sync with Apple Health?

Can You Sleep On Your Side with a CGM?

You can continue to sleep as you normally would while you are wearing a CGM sensor on your arm. However, it is advised that you avoid laying directly on top of the device if possible, as some research suggests that laying on the device during sleep can lead to inaccurate readings.

Can You Shower with Nutrisense?

Nutrisense CGMs are water-resistant up to 8 feet deep. You can shower or swim with your CGM, though wearing your protective bandage is recommended to prevent any damage to the device.

Who is Eligible for a Free CGM?

There are currently no companies in the United States that provide free CGMs. The cost of a continuous glucose monitor can vary depending on your program and length of commitment to a CGM program.

CGM Program Eligibility: It is our aim to offer expert guidance and help as many individuals as possible reach their health potential. With time, we hope to create new solutions for anyone coming to Nutrisense, however as of right now, we are unable to work with individuals who are:- Currently undergoing cancer treatment- Currently undergoing insulin therapy- Diagnosed with an active eating disorder- Pregnant or wish to become pregnant in the next few months- Undergoing fertility treatments- Under the age of 18- Unable to provide a shipping address within the United States- Not in possession of a smartphone with NFC or Bluetooth capabilities

Which is Better, Nutrisense or Signos?

The Nutrisense program is designed to help anyone reach their health potential. While other programs such as Signos hone in on one specific problem area, when you join the Nutrisense program, your experience is tailored specifically to you and your unique health goals. Unlike Signos, Nutrisense also gives you access to 1:1 support from an expert nutritionist.

What is Similar to Nutrisense?

While there are several programs on the market designed to optimize metabolic health, Nutrisense is the only program that gives members access to 1:1 nutritionist support from a credentialed health professional to help you create positive lifestyle changes, understand your body’s data, and take control of your own health.

How Much Does It Cost to Join Nutrisense?

Nutrisense plans start at $225 per month. Prices may vary depending on the length of your plan. All Nutrisense plans come with complimentary nutritionist support for the first one month of your subscription. The cost of the Nutrisense CGM program depends on the plan you choose. Pricing starts at $299 monthly for a 3-month subscription and falls as low as $225 monthly for a 12-month commitment. The cheapest CGMs will require a longer-term plan. See above for a CGM cost comparison by plan length. Each plan includes a free month of expert nutritionist support.

Do I Need to Have a Smartphone to Use the CGM?

Yes, in order to participate in the Nutrisense program you will need an NFC and Bluetooth compatible smartphone. Luckily, most smartphones sold after 2016 have NFC technology and bluetooth connectivity embedded in them, which is needed for the CGM to work.As a general rule of thumb, if you have an iPhone 7 or newer, a Samsung Galaxy S6 or newer, a Google Pixel 1 or newer, your phone will work just fine. If you have any questions about your device, our support team is always here to help confirm the NFC or Bluetooth status. Otherwise, we recommend checking with your personal device carrier.Unfortunately, neither the iPhone 6 nor the iPhone SE (older generation) is NFC compatible. Unfortunately, we are unable to use iPads or Apple Watches to collect the CGM data. However, you can view your data on your iPad app.

Can I Join the Program if I am Using Insulin?

We are currently not accepting individuals using insulin to the Nutrisense program. Given the physiologic differences between glucose concentrations within the interstitial fluid (which the CGM measures) and capillary blood (as measured by finger-stick glucometer readings), there may be significant differences in glucose readings. These observed differences are more pronounced during times of rapid change in blood glucose, such as after eating, exercising, and dosing insulin. Additionally, the current CGM system utilized at Nutrisense does not provide alerts or alarms for both hypoglycemic and hyperglycemic glucose events. The Nutrisense system is not designed to replace glucose testing for diabetes treatment decisions at this time, however, we would highly encourage you to request a prescription for a CGM from your primary care provider, as well as a referral to a Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES) within your area. Professional support will continue to expand your personal toolbox to care for your diabetes.

Can I Cancel my Nutrisense Subscription?

When you sign up to Nutrisense, you agree to be charged monthly for the duration of the program you selected. All members have the ability to snooze their program at any time if they need to take a break for any reason. If you need to cancel your program before the termination date, you’ll be required to pay an early cancellation fee. Contact our customer support team for assistance if you would like to pause or cancel your program.

Can I Join the Program if I am Pregnant?

While we would love to support everyone on their health journey, unfortunately, we are not currently accepting pregnant women into the Nutrisense program. We understand that pregnancy can bring unique challenges and changes to glucose responses that can make it difficult to get an accurate picture of your baseline health. However, we would be thrilled to have you join our program once you have given birth and are ready to focus on your postpartum health goals. In the meantime, please don't hesitate to reach out to our team if you have any questions or concerns about monitoring your glucose levels during pregnancy.

Can I Get a CGM with Insurance?

Some CGMs are covered by private insurance in the United States when prescribed by a doctor. CGM cost with insurance can vary depending on your coverage and CGM provider if your insurance does cover some or all of the cost. Most health insurance providers do not currently cover the cost of continuous glucose monitors, and the cost of a CGM without insurance can vary. It may or may not be possible to buy a CGM without insurance. At this time, CGMs from the Nutrisense program are not covered by insurance providers. We are continually working towards getting coverage and will provide the Nutrisense community with any updates. However, Nutrisense programs are often eligible for HSA /FSA reimbursement. Check with your HSA/FSA provider for more information.
