‍The journey to find health and happiness is about empowerment and commitment. That commitment needs to be a lifelong quest to honor your body’s unique needs, form habits that will last, and become intuitive to your body’s changes over time.

Who Am I?

My name is Logan, and I am the Content Manager here at Nutrisense. Since beginning to work here, I have realized that my health journey is something that I have written off for too long. I currently think about my health often and worry about what it will look like as I get older. I become easily fatigued, and it doesn't take much physical activity to leave me out of breath and needing a break. Over the last 3-5 years, I have half-heartedly committed to fad diets, workout regimens sworn to alter my body shape, and multiple cleanses, but nothing changed my overall health, weight, and lifestyle.

Why Am I Embarking on This Journey?

Despite my attempts to become more healthy, I struggle with weight problems and worry about receiving a diagnosis I could prevent as I age. Growing up, I watched [and continue to watch] my father battle with diabetes and heart issues. I wonder if he had had the same tools I am about to employ [blood glucose monitoring and a team to help me understand data] when he was young if this burden could have been eased in his old age. My parents did their best to raise me to lead a “normal” and healthy lifestyle, but this has always included food that we wanted, not foods that were intended to cater to our bodies’ specific needs. We did not have the tools to gather information about specific foods at that time in my life.

Over time I have found my perspective of what a truly healthy life is changing. I am no longer content to be overweight, quickly tired, and out of shape. I am no longer content eating foods without thinking about how they will affect my body in the long run.

Looking Toward the Future:

Now, I am making a commitment to honor my body over time and become a student to it’s unique needs. I will be using the tools available to me in the Nutrisense program and app over the next three months to improve my diet, workout routines, and daily habits and will be sharing my journey with you week by week.

I currently weigh 250lbs and do not have a diet that I adhere to, any kind of regular workout routine, and have never measured my baseline glucose levels. I have tried to go to gyms and classes but don’t feel comfortable in those environments. So, I bought a Peloton bike and will follow their programs to develop a regular physical activity routine. I believe that having an educated and efficient team behind you is one of the most powerful resources when working toward any goal, so I will be working with the dietitians available through the Nutrisense app every week to streamline what I choose to put into my body. After I apply my glucose monitor, I will be logging everything I eat and every bit of physical exertion every day into the app to measure the changes in my glucose levels.

Let’s Set Some Goals

Over the next three months, I hope to find the healthiest version of myself and get to know what that feels like. I want to feel healthier and have more energy. I want to be in shape and physically exert myself for more extended periods. Along the way, I hope to lose weight and develop a better self-image. These goals have always seemed intimidating and too hard to achieve. Still, I believe that with the tools that I have been given [derived from my blood glucose monitor], I will be able to work toward them in manageable, small steps as I begin recording and utilizing the data daily.Let’s start this journey together!
